Education & Support

To better aid new parents, or even those "veteran" parents, Saint Clare's Health System maintains a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary education and support program dealing with maternity topics at all stages of pregnancy, labor and delivery, for various members of the family, and covering a whole host of topics.

Education

From childbirth to breastfeeding and siblings to grandparents, there is a class for all members of the family to prepare for and welcome the new addition to the family. Our childbirth education classes, which run one day a week for five consecutive weeks, educate parents on the various aspects of labor and delivery and help them prepare for childbirth, while alleviating the stress and anxiety that such an event may bring.

Our classes are taught by registered nurses in childbirth education and experienced in all areas of pre- and post-natal care. Other classes include:

  • Pre-Conception Planning
  • Early Pregnancy
  • Traditional Lamaze
  • Refresher Lamaze
  • Cesarean Birth
  • Vaginal Birth After Cesarean
  • Multiple Birth
  • Breastfeeding
  • Newborn & Infant Care
  • Siblings
  • Grandparenting
  • Infant Emergency Care

Click here for detailed descriptions of these educational opportunities. For further information on these classes, call our Maternity Educator, Ellie Zaleski, at 973-625-6387.

Support

In cooperation with Saint Clare's Behavioral Health Services, Saint Clare's provides a full complement of crisis intervention, assessment, counseling and self-help group support for women suffering from depression after childbirth. Additional support groups and programs are available through referral by the New Jersey Self Help Group Clearinghouse.
