Since it opened its doors to its first patients, The Women’s Health Center at Saint Clare’s Hospital/Dover has exceeded expectations and become an integral part of the fight against breast cancer. The Seventh Annual Saint Clare’s Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2008, at the Hilton Garden Inn at the Rockaway Townsquare Mall, once again benefiting The Women’s Health Center. To date, the Walk has raised over $300,000 for the continued expansion and enhancements of the Center. Funds from this year’s Walk will be designated for the purchase an ultrasound machine with supporting equipment that will provide women with the most advanced diagnostic technology for breast cancer. This year’s event will recognize all survivors and caregivers, at a special Survivor and Caregiver Celebration at 8 a.m. The survivors will then lead walkers onto the course. Following the walk, participants will return to the Hilton Garden Inn for awards presentations for the top youth, adult and team walkers. At that time, the 2008 Mary Mulholland Spirit Award will be presented to Mary “Pat” Valva, a former Denville councilwoman and longtime friend, volunteer and supporter of Saint Clare’s Health System and the Women’s Health Center.
