SAINT CLARE'S HOSPITAL/SUSSEX BREAKS
GROUND ON $2 MILLION EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT EXPANSION
New 4,000 Square-Foot ED to Meet the Future Needs of a Growing Population
In order to serve the needs of a growing population in northern
Sussex County, Saint Clare’s Hospital/Sussex recently broke
ground on a $2 million renovation and expansion of the emergency
department (ED) at the facility. Community leaders, donors, employees
and friends came together for the September 21 ceremonies.
For
the Sussex County region, a first-rate emergency facility that is
close to home is a necessity. Population growth in the county is
projected at nearly six percent a year for the foreseeable future.
Plans call for a new 4,000 square-foot emergency facility, a new
nurse’s station, upgraded treatment rooms, a new triage area,
enlarged patient entry and ambulance access areas, an upgraded trauma
room, and an all-new treatment room dedicated to cardiac trauma.
To date, over $1.3 million of the $2 million dollar construction
cost has come from private and public donors and regional corporations.
For patients, the new facility will mean greater comfort and convenience
and easier access to care. For staff, the new facility will allow
them to provide even higher levels of care in an efficient workspace.
And for the community, the new ED will be an invaluable resource
for members of the community who live and work in northern Sussex
County.
Breaking
ground for the construction and expansion project are (left to right):
the Honorable Katherine Little, Mayor of Sussex; Ginnie Littell,
Chair of the Community Advisory Board for Saint Clare’s Hospital/Sussex;
Stephen Bocskocsky, Chief Administrative Officer of Saint Clare’s
Hospital/Sussex; Gary J. Blan, President and CEO of Saint Clare’s
Health System; and Sister Catherine Marie Belongia, SSM, Executive
Vice President, Spiritual Services for Saint Clare’s Health
System.
